Doug is a retired professional ballet dancer originally from Vancouver, British Columbia and has lived in Atlanta since 1987. His journey in dance took him from Vancouver to ballet school in Montreal then eventually to New York City where he toured across the country, into Europe and even Africa. Upon retiring and considering his options, he discovered interior design “I was that 12 year old kid who rearranged his parents living room furniture and seasonally updated his bedroom, I didn’t know that was a career!”

Doug will tell you that he has had the great fortune of turning his passion into his career for his entire life. Towards the end of his dance career, he met a handful of interior designers and realized that design was his destiny but, how to begin? It was wisely suggested to him to start with one of the most customized end of the industry, drapery making. He ended up getting a job with the top drapery workroom in the southeast where he traveled from New York to Palm Beach advising designers and their clients.

In 1998 he opened the doors to his future registering his own interior design firm, Douglas Weiss Interiors. And now with 25 plus years in business, his projects take him not only across the Southeast but to the Northeast as well as the Pacific Northwest. Currently based in both Atlanta GA and Highlands NC, he has realized the full expression of his design potential by applying his years of diverse experience to help his clients create their ideal home environment.
